The median of Tauentzien is receiving a new face. Construction work has been in progress since the end of 2010 when the renovation of the underground tunnel was finished. Its redesigning was financed with funds from the "Active Centres" programme with the participation of the Berlin Public Transport Utility (BVG). Construction work was finished in spring 2013.
The promenade between Wittenbergplatz and Breitscheidplatz will gain a new quality of life thanks to the planting of yews. Delicate elements made of bright granite stone will border the large plant islands. The included benches will offer a high quality of life in the middle of the lively business street, and visitors will be able to switch sides of the street to different shops without any difficulty in the future. New indirect lighting lends the place a pleasant atmosphere at night.
The design stems from the garden and landscape architects Lützow 7. The construction project is run by the Engineering and Landscape Planning Bureau of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District.
